Recently, we spent a wonderfully sunny day in the company of a gaggle of incredibly talented girls, to create some brand new inspirational looks for our company The Great Event.
If you are unfamiliar with The Great Event, it’s a collection of handpicked, unique pieces of furniture, linens, accessories, cutlery, crockery and props for you to hire for your wedding or party. Hosting many weddings across the year, means we have accumulated quite a hoard of beautiful things, from unusual Indian chairs, to simple wooden trestle tables; from hurricane lamps to chalkboards and easels.
So, together with the (quite frankly) awesome talents of the Joanna Game Flowers team, the Midas touch of Louise McCarthy from Tryptych Design and the magical eye of our go-to photographer Rosie Anderson, we set about to create some table settings that we hope will inspire you for your next event, party or even your wedding.
The first look is a sumptuous Boho Luxe setting. Imagine a Dutch masterpiece painting filled with jeweled tones and luxurious textures. Burgundy, mustard, dark greens, all slightly knackered but rich in tone. Think of a feast; a medieval banquet with pewter plates and gold cutlery. Maybe a tablecloth of crushed velvet, animal skins to the chairs, a long wooden trestle table piled high with platters of meats and cheeses and bread and fruit, flagons of red wine…… Slightly decadent – slightly naughty! Astilbe, Antirrhinum, Roses (Antique Caramel and Palm beach ) Passion flower vine and Daucus (purple kisses), make up the stunning floral centrepiece from Joanna.
Perfect for a woodland wedding, where you want earthy colours; a barn or a party in a character house for men that wear braces, girls with long luscious hair, tight bodices and flowing skirts and dogs weaving in and out of the tables to pick up dropped morsels!
Hiring anything from The Great Event is easy. Simply hop over to the website, click on the things you like and we will get back to you with a quote and availability.
